Yes, an upholstery shop should have no problem fixing the strap. Make
sure that they reinforce the strap as long as they are at it.

When mine broke, I moved the tennax button up to the tonneau. I took a
strip of aluminum, bent it, drilled two holes, and made a replacement
for the strap.

If your straps lasted this long, you have been taking very good care of
them.

Well, one of the casualties of my recent journey was the tonneau. It is
a black OEM Mazda one (91/92?) without headrest coves that had the
beginning of small tears in the straps on both sides that attach to the
seatbelt housing area when I bought it a year ago. After much use, the
tears finally continued until they severed the tennax fastener from the
tonneau on the driver's side. It appears to be heavy grade vinyl.

Can this be fixed? I think a decent upholstery shop could do something.

Has anyone had this happen that cares to share experience or advice?
Especially to those in the MD/DC/VA area, can anyone recommend a good
place to get this fixed?

TIA
