Mark,

When I was installing my Koni's I loosened one of those bolts. When I
went to re-torque it, someone told me the wrong torque and ripped it
right off. That damn bolt has 3 spot welds on the back of it. I
tried punching it out with a punch and 5lb. sledge, grinding it,
prying it off, and nothing worked. Mine was the passenger side bolt
and the muffler was hanging in the way of getting a drill on it. I
couldn't even get an angle drill up there. I didn't want to drop the
exhaust to get it off. As it happens, I pick up a nail in my new T-1s
and take it to a local service station to get it plugged. Low and
behold the mechanic owns a Miata and knows Peter down at PBC. He says
that he'll replace it for $20. The guy took a propane torch to it to
soften the spot welds and punched it out. Wham bam 5 min it's out and
replaced.
