Nonsense. I've seen a half dozen or so 99s on the road, catching the
first glimpse from the back, front, and sides, and was never for a
second wondered if it was anything but a Miata. In most cases it took
me a couple of seconds to realize it was a 99. In no cases did the
driver even glance at me.
In fact, I've given up trying to get any aknowledgement from other
Miata drivers. Now I save my waves and nods for anyone driving any
convertible with the top down. Much better response rate.
