Last month in Pennsylvania was the first trip for my miata
away from the flatlands. Coming into Pittsburgh, I noticed a
short screech from the clutch if I got lazy on some uphill
stretches and lugged the engine while shifting into 2nd gear.
The old stand-on-the-brakes and stand-on-the-gas-pedal test in
3rd, 4th, or 5th says there is no clutch slippage. No noises
in 1st gear either. Only happens when I do a sloppy shift
and slip the clutch in too high of a gear. It's a Centerforce
DF II, by the way, with about 20K miles and a hundred or more
overly silly hard autox launches.
This is not the whirring noise that's cured with lube on the
slave cylinder piston. Glazed/burned disks?
Yes. I know the answer is to maintain better shifting discipline.
Still wondering though, if this is a sign of bad stuff about
to happen down the road. Comments welcomed.
