| Subject: | Traffic Light Prisms... |

Thanks to all those who informed me about the purpose of the square
pop-out on the Miata's dash. And to all the many who have e-mailed
me privately asking where they too can get a prism for viewing
traffic lights.
As I've told each person who queried about them, I only have 2 (one
on my Explorer and one for my new Miata). And unfortunately, they
were the only 2 available at the check-out counter at the Western
Auto where I found them 6 months ago. Just to be sure, I made a
special trip to the same Western Auto today to check on them, and
asked the manager about them. No more in stock, and the manager was
new and didn't know what a prism was.
So, sorry folks. I don't have any leads on them. And I need the
only 2 I have. If I ever stuble across any more, I'll be sure to let
the list know about them, and I'll get both Store and Manufacturer's
names and phone numbers for you.
In the meantime, maybe this is something that Brain Storm Products,
Team Miata, or most any other accessories supplier could
manufacture. Mine are made simply from molded acryllic. The base is
1" square. The side view is of a roughly equalateral triangle. The
front fact is slightly rounded, and the back face is actually a
convex V shape, disigned to reflect the traffic light photons to both
the driver and passenger. Not a lot to them, really.
Should anyone else know of a source, I can tell you there are more
than just a few Miata owners out there who are VERY eager to get
their hands on one! You'll make a lot of fiends is you can post your
source to the list!
Sorry I got everyone's hopes up. I trust you are all not too
disappointed, and maybe some kind sole who does acryllic work for a
hobby could whip-up a few dozen of these precious gems (I know I'd
buy another dozen myself - just to hang onto for use on future cars).
