Subject:Using 323 GTX manifold for miata turbo?
Date: Sun, 2 Aug 1998 17:06:18 +0000

First off, I'm assuming that what i've heard is correct: the miata 1.6 is a
323gtx (turbo) engine without the turbocharger, essentially. If this is
correct, would it be possible to use a stock 323gtx exhaust manifold to make a
miata 1.6 turbo system?

I (and others) are interested in making a custom turbo system, which would
ultimatly be better and less expensive then the greddy or hks system. The
turbo and intercooler could be peiced together using components from other
cars or turbonetics or similar hybrid units. The only problem with this setup
is obtaining the manifold and possibly turbo to exhause system downpipe.
If I was able to use a 323gtx header, I would essentially be set, because
turbo, intercooler, BOV, wastegate and downpipe could all be fabricated or
obtained second hand for close to nothing.
Any info on using 323 headers?
