Hey, all. Finally got all the fluids replaced in my '90 A; today's flushing
of the coolant was the last piece of the puzzle. Now the question: according
to the Miata Enthusiast's manual I can get by with a 65% H2O/35% coolant mix
which is supposed to make me good to 3 degrees F. (plenty for my part of the
country...I hope); but the owner's manual says 50/50, as does the Tips from
the Garage on the Miata.net. I seem to remember a thread about the Miata
"liking" the 65/35% mix better, and the mixture looks awful watery to me. I
don't have a hydrometer. Comments?
Also, I found a set of "newer" (and in better shape) factory alloys from
a '93 that I had mounted today, and the tire place pointed out to me that one
of my "old" alloys was bent. I am only going to use the old ones for
autocrossing, so I guess it's no big deal, and they offered to straighten it
out for $50, but I can't help but think (and hope) that one of y'all have an
extra (true) one sitting in your garage that you want to part with cheap.
Finally, the same tire place (the owner is a racer and autocross club
sponsor) quoted me a $500 price to sell and install me a set of new Tokiko
HP's, which I think included the after-installation alignment. He also said
he'd do Illumina's for $600. How do those prices sound? I'm not up for
installing them myself, thank you.
Please respond to me directly...I'm in the digest mode and have to go to
work the next couple of days, so may fall behind in the digest. TIA.
