Check where the hose goes. There are actually *2* holes in the
transmission hump that are the right diameter. One is the correct one and
one is not. Your statement that the hose is kinking suggests that you
might have it in the wrong spot. On my car the correct hole has a rubber
grommet in it, the other doesn't, but YMMV. I have no idea what the other
hole is for, but when you get it placed correctly, the drain hose fits
easily without kinking.
If it is actually kinking, then it might not drain fast enough when used
constantly on hot days.

The A/C will still overflow even with the top down. In fact, probably
faster since the air won't dry out inside the car.
