John and I are on the same page here.
In a recent issue of Crain's Industry mag (forget the name but Crane
publishes AutoWeek too), there's an article relating to a rising number of
deaths and injuries due to air bags inclusing a young woman who was PARKED
(not undersized) and got amacked inthe chest when leaning forward to remove
the key from the ignition... and young men injured trying to ENTER a
vehicle when the air bag went off (which by the way, neither the
manufacturer nor the insurance company would replace because there was no
collision!!!!!!!!!!!!
In short, like the song goes, 'Take your air bag and stuff it!'. If YOU
want to use one, that should be your perogative. But don't force anyone
else.
People are NOT statistics whose lives may be traded by legislators for ANY
number potentially saved!
