Speaking of lugging the engine, when I happen to do it occassionally
(relatively infrequently), usually just trying to pull out in 2nd gear
rather than 1st, that kind of thing, I get this ringing, spinning sounding
noise? what is that?

My car is an '94 with 70k miles. And due for a clutch replacement. Is it
part of the clutch making that noise?
