The 8-ball knob's been done I'm sure.. 

Ah..  here's a good one..   the Stress knob..  like those squishy stress
objects some people keep at their desks and such.. or if market it as the
ergo-knob if you don't like the sound of the stress knob..  but i'm sure
that's been done too..

Final knob idea for me today..    what we'd need is some substance that will
emit light at low temps..  Kinda like a glow stick.. but heat based instead of
chem based. I could go for a shift knob that would glow a dull red at night..
