Hey Listers! I'm back. Moved but not unpacked. Just couldn't take the
list withdrawals any more. :P Just two quick stories to share from my
time off.
Ran into a disbeliever at a furniture store. I had ordered a hall table and
little bench. When they came in the guy /refused/ to put it in my car
stating it would "never fit in there". Oh the disbelief on his face was
priceless as I asked him to kindly get out of my way and I hefted the table
box gingerly into CATTOY's towel covered pax seat. Got quite a few looks
traveling from store to house too. Not quite sure if it was because I had a
huge box looming over the cockpit or because I had my top down in the
"middle of winter". No matter....grinning ear to ear and enjoying the
wonderful southern "winter" weather.
Also met a nice non-Miata owner who's best friend just happens to have a '96
M so we chatted a bit. Always try to do my part to recruit members for the
local club...besides never minded much talking to nice, good looking, single
guys my age. :) Anyway, I gave the guy the Foothills website address to
give to his friend with the Miata. So Mr. Non-Miata decides to go out and
check out the website for the club himself and couldn't get in directly. He
locates Miata.net on his own and finds the link to the local club and reads
all the past newsletter articles I wrote, mods I've done to the car, looks
at the pics, then goes back to Miata.net and looks up my "profile" as he
called it in the enthusiasts directory. He then calls me and tells me how
he's been "checking up on me". Methinks this is a little scary until he
laughs and says after reading all about me he is convinced that I'm not just
an enthusiast but says he said to himself "this woman has Miata in her
blood". I laughed. May have made a friend and may get another member in
the local chapter out of the meeting.
Going home to unpack some more. Revs up, top down, may hit Paris Mountain
and some twisties on the way to CATTOY's garage. Thanks to all who sent
tire advice while I was unsubbed!
