Call the lodge after they open back up April 1. They will let up to 4 tents
camp on the property. Plus, there *is* the fact that the Gap follows the
southern border of the United States' most visited national park, the
Great Smokies, which, by no coincidence, is how our club got its name,
btw. :^) Concerning backcountry camping... this *is* the land of Eric
Rudolph, 1998 Hide and Go Seek Champion. This is *also* the land of
moonshine stills and marijuana patches, so be very careful. You don't
want to stumble upon or camp out in someone else's backcountry. :^P

At least one person camped at the lodge last year. Call them and ask for
Dirk or let them know that you are with the Miatae and wonder if you can
camp there by the Quonset hut like was done last year.

Scott and Woody, whose idea of roughing it is not getting washed once a
week.
