In all honesty, I installed one but I'd say you should reconsider
doing same.  Because it makes your hood not close flush / line up. 
This makes the car look like it's been wrecked.  Some say when the
strut wears out it will relax it's push on the hood but that might be
years from now?  I'm thinking of drilling the strut to blow it out,
then use one of those manual strut locks to hold the hood up.  But I
don't drive the car much anyways so...
