There's no real need to remove the battery except to protect it from
freezing. I'll assume that if it's lasted this long it is in no imminent
danger. You should keep a trickle charge on it, or at least refresh it
with a trickle charge every so often, but no real need to remove it from
the car for that.
If you still want to take it out, disconnect the negative cable (the one
that goes from the battery to the fender), the positive cable, the battery
hold-down bar, the vent lines (2 rubber tubes), and then lift it out.
Installation is the reverse of removal. The order of the above is for
safety, use a 10mm wrench or socket on the hold-down bar nut.
