| Subject: | Help on Timing |

Today I decided to advance my timing on my 96 Miata. I went to the
Garage @ Miata.Net.... read everything. Piece of cake..... I have the
two timing marks (yellow and white) did the jumper thing and checked the
RPMs - ok. When I moved the sensor to move the yellow mark up two clicks
to 14 the engine ran fair not great, so I checked the rpm -OK. Took the
car out for a Test drive ran really rough and the Check Engine light
came on. I put the timing back to 10 but still the engine light stayed
lit. I had to disconnect the battery to get rid of the light. I adjusted
the idle speed to 850 and still ran badly - Finally I moved the sensor
so that the bottom White timing mark is at 10 and the car runs good!!!
What am I doing wrong..... everything I read says the Yellow Mark is the
one you are suppose to use not the White one??????
SOS, 911
Thanks, Mark
