Hey guys,in Germany the M1 (every German spec.) model was equipped with
coloured rear mudflaps. Only US and Canadian imports came without them.
Some of the people I know dismantled them for a better appearance of
their car.
Belgian spec. (like mine) came additionally with front mudflaps as
standard which were also in the same colour as the car itself. I have
the rear ones mounted all seasons since they prevent the rear bumper
form beeing chipped. In winter or automn I use to mount the front
guards, too as in Germany a lot of gravel is used against ice.
Unless the the guards are mounted properly (all 3 srews should be
fastened tightly) they should stand some snow and ice. But I have to
admit that in Germany the snow conditions are not as severe as in
Iceland :-)
Take care,
Christoph
