| Subject: | Plug Wires? Is it that common? |
| Date: | Tue, 2 Feb 1999 07:38:32 -0500 |
Gee, I hate to even ask...
Prior to adding a Sebring and J&S Knock Monitor to my '97 Classic Red
a week and a half ago, I installed new plugs and had a local "shop",
(long story), do an oil change since everywhere around my place is too
wet to crawl around on the ground.
The "shop" apparently couldn't find the oil fill hole so they decided
to dump most of it on top of the engine where it puddled on the plug
wires.
Now for the past 3 or 4 days, and it seems like the humidity affects
it, every once in awhile it feels like I'm firing on two cylinders ---
once or twice it actually killed the engine.
On the way to work this morning, in the rain, I got up to close to
someone's rear bumper and the spray from his tires seemed to magnify
the problem to the point where I've now got a glowing check engine
light.
Yes, I soldered all the connectors and wires for the Sebring/J&S
installation and used up a roll of electrical tape last night making
sure the connections were good and there were no wires shorting out.
I've only got 17K on the car but, especially after the contamination
caused during the oil change, could this be the infamous plug wire
problem again?
Thanks
