I agree with all that John had to say... and have a few pennies to 
toss in of my own:

stiffen the car some too - IMO chassis stiffners are a good 
bang-for-the-buck in SOTP ride improvement.  I like the FM shock 
tower brace... and I'm not well-versed on the different levels of OEM 
bracing on the earlier models, I bet there's some underneath added 
bracing to be had.  (side note: In talking to a guy over on RAMMM, he 
has the Sebring compatible brace, and felt it did nothing on his '96)

Also, get an "aggressive" alignment.  On a bone stock car, that seems 
to be the quickest, cheapest and most rewarding way to improve the 
feel of the car.

And just to quote a little from John...

..because I feel that needs reiterating.  I would consider OEM 
shocks with 73k miles to be "broke", which leads to the axiom I just 
made up: "Fix what's broke first, then start upgrading"
