Subject:RONIN (NMC) & Frankenheimer

     I got to see Ronin in a theater with a good sound system.  The 
movie had no real plot, but enough of one to link the chase scenes.  
I'm glad I paid daytime rate.  :-)  I don't want to wreck the movie 
but I promise you'll enjoy it for the chases.  Oh, and Katarina Witt  
is nice too.  ;-)  This movie is great for having car club 
get-togethers.  My club at Texas A&M University recently had one.
     IIRC, it was the Citroen that had just a _beautiful_ sound at 
high revs.  I swear it was at 8000 rpm.  Very cool.  But I could 
be mistaken.  I'm a 28-year-old American so I'm relatively ignorant 
of French cars.  :-)
     Only John Frankenheimer could make a movie so accurately.  Last 
week, Speedvision (an awesome cable channel over here) replayed their 
4-hour showing of Frankenheimer's Grand Prix.  In four hours there 
were only 4-5 commercial breaks.  When they weren't showing the 
movie, Bruce Dern (for us youngsters, Laura's dad) was chatting with 
Frankenheimer and James Garner about behind-the-scenes details.  It 
was a wonderful show!  I taped it for my dad who is sadly without 
Speedvision.  :-(  He LOVED it.
