Flash to pass should be a diode not a resistor. Check the
garage section on Miata.Net, it in the electrical group.

Subject: 127mA... is that really NORMAL? (Flash to Pass)
Bruce,
Thanks for the info. I pulled every freakin' fuse I could
except for the main.
I couldn't get that one out of there, even with a pair of
pliers. Thinking back
though, I installed a 100Ohm resistor for the "Flash to
Pass" modification the
folks on the .net talked about a while back.
Does anyone remember how to do that mod? The flash to pass
feature doesn't work
anymore and I assumed the resistor slipped out somewhere and
is causing the
problem. I would love to pull it but I don't remember where
I put it! Ok, its
been a few years...
I bought the car brand new, special order. There is no
alarm system in it other
than a kill switch that doesn't let anyone start it if the
switch is on. I
hadn't tried that circuit for the leak but I didn't think it
could be it.
Anyone remember the Flash to Pass headlight mod?
Thanks (again),
kjw &

I have a 94, but this is definitely NOT normal. The "dark"
current should
only be around 20 mA IIRC.
Did you try pulling the radio fuse? Sometimes there is a
some sort of
memory circuit that needs a keep alive current. How about
the remnants of
an alarm? I found out I had one the spring after I pulled
my battery for
the winter! Can you say LOUD! Ripped that thing out...
Do you have a CB or any other electronics installed? The
only other thing
I can think of is an injured harness or wire rubbing against
the frame
somewhere.
Good luck, hope you find it.

I think you should until you find the problem.

around or to fix this?

Low battery conditions can cause idle hunting. I have a
little excess dark
current, and find that a 2A over night charge fixes all
sorts of engine droop.
