I got to see Ronin in a theater with a good sound system. The
movie had no real plot, but enough of one to link the chase scenes.
I'm glad I paid daytime rate. :-) I don't want to wreck the movie
but I promise you'll enjoy it for the chases. Oh, and Katarina Witt
is nice too. ;-) This movie is great for having car club
get-togethers. My club at Texas A&M University recently had one.
IIRC, it was the Citroen that had just a _beautiful_ sound at
high revs. I swear it was at 8000 rpm. Very cool. But I could
be mistaken. I'm a 28-year-old American so I'm relatively ignorant
of French cars. :-)
Only John Frankenheimer could make a movie so accurately. Last
week, Speedvision (an awesome cable channel over here) replayed their
4-hour showing of Frankenheimer's Grand Prix. In four hours there
were only 4-5 commercial breaks. When they weren't showing the
movie, Bruce Dern (for us youngsters, Laura's dad) was chatting with
Frankenheimer and James Garner about behind-the-scenes details. It
was a wonderful show! I taped it for my dad who is sadly without
Speedvision. :-( He LOVED it.
