Peter, et al.
First, my name is Jay. But, with the frown and downcast eyes you had when you
handed the keys to me, I just didn't have the heart to correct you. :-)
To let all of the listers know, I sold a '93 Mustang LX 5.0 Coupe that I
bought new. I know all too well the sorrow of parting with a "family member"
that cars can become. My goal was to find an M1 Miata to delve into a new
cult with. As some of you may be aware, their is alive and well a Mustang
cult much like the Miata cult. Take heart, though, that the Miata cult is a
tad more forgiving and cultured. Hence, my desire to grow up and become a
Miata owner. The improved handling and ability to put the top down in the
soon to arrive Georgia spring are tremendous side benefits. The loss of power
will take some getting used to. Peter, as I said before, I am a true car fan
and will take care of the Miata. Please don't hold it against me that she
will be sitting outside for a few months. We are building a house and I will
have a new home and sleeping quarters for her.
I must say that the Miata as a daily driver is quite positive. I have found
out that people don't give you quite the respect we deserve due to size
differences. So, my urge to purchase a firearm has increased...then sanity
sets in. I have rationalized the lack of respect as being jealousy. The
other drivers (I use that term loosely) are jealous at the fun we Miata
drivers are having and are fuming at their stupidity for buying that SUV. I
just laugh at them now. The car may not be practical, but that is why my wife
has her hatchback. My Mustang wasn't practical, so why should I change now?
Anyway, I look forward to many, many years of Miata fun, upgrades, and
driving. Thank you all in advance for any assistance, guidance, sarcasm,
flames, and help you will most certainly provide.
Now, what can I name the little one? Any ideas? She is a '91 Red. I was
thinking something like "tomato".
Jay
