I had my own close call on the way home Friday--  Nice phat phishtail out
of my favorite turn, cruising along at the speed limit...  cresting a
hill...  WHOA!  A small econobox had stopped suddenly to make a left turn
(no turn lanes).  An El Camino barely made the stop; I abruptly checked my
blindspot and changed lanes while braking, the car behind me skidded to a
stop right beside me... and BANG!!!!  The Contour behind him ate his rear
end as I dropped a gear and squirted out of the situation before he shot
into my lane from the impact.  

Scary stuff right before Miata '99!  Now I find myself being overly
cautious when I drive *anywhere*.  Just glad my baby is safe in the garage
until Thursday :)
