I don't know what the HP and torque curves are like in your Civic, but in
the Miata I find a big drop off between 6500 and the limiter anyway- I would
recommend shifting as soon as you hit that area. A good quick shift into 3rd
around 6700 would keep you in the peak power band and probably propel you
faster than riding the engine deep into the red even if it had no limiter,
in my newbie humble opinion. And I for one am glad the limiter is there-
I've found it too many times while in the "heat of the battle" as it saved
me from winding it too far. Perhaps some more miles under the belt and it'll
be more natural for me : )
