I suppose that might've been me, since the above happened to me last
year and I posted the story and subsequent replacement here.  However,
I did have the "belly pan" (keeps the engine a lot cleaner than running
without it).

I think anything solid enough to go through the oil pan is not going
to be stopped by a mm or two of plastic... anyway, the bottom of the
oil pan isn't covered by the plastic.
