I think it all depends on how obvious you want the speakers to be.
Black grills will show at a glance and maybe attract the wrong sort of
admirer - the type that may want to do more than just look....
If you paint the grills to match the carpet then you get more of a
stealth effect  and less attention from you-know-who.
