By behind the seats I assume you mean the rear deck area. The problem there
is that is where the fuel tank is located, so there isn't a lot of room
underneath the deck. The only place that speakers would fit is on either side
of the tank, and only about a 6" diameter speaker will fit. Some folks have
used this area for subwoofers, but not for normal speakers. The biggest
problem I could see would be that they would be fairly difficult to hear with
the top down because of their location.
What most people do is add speakers to the headrests in the seats,
unfortunately this only works in the M1 (1997 and older cars). If you have
one of those, I can tell you all about putting the speakers in, if you don't,
it won't matter. Let us know a little more about your car and we'll give you
the best advice we can.
