I personally have no problem with someone purchasing products, in this case
from a MiataNet vendor (Knobmeister), marking up the price and selling it on
Ebay as this guy does. That's buyer beware territory.
I do have a problem with someone who attends a local Miata event, NOT as a
salesman by his own words, and when asked about how to get an item he has on
his car does not simply say, "oh, $5 from Joe Portas" but instead doesn't
tell the individual where to get them but instead offers them for an inflated
price over what Joe sells the item for.
And I'm all for capitalism...but this is NOT an established vender, this is a
person who took advantage of someone at a small gathering of miata folk over
a weekend and of me when I communicated with him directly as the buyer's
representative. If he identifies himself as a vendor and pays the taxes that
net sponsors do, that's a different story.
Well, that's my opinion...and right now it's a low one of him... your mileage
may vary. Beware of who you're buying things from. This guy twice had
the opportunity to not charge the excess and simply say "hey, gett'm from
Joe" but chose not to.
I just can't believe that in the general spirit of miata comraderie and
sharing that exists at a small gathering of club folk that this should
happen. Maybe I'm missing something. And by the way, this is a fellow
who is very ready to accept all the free advice he can get here on the net
for over a year!
