Here's the long of it... ; )
I own a 1991 Mercury Capri XR2 Turbo and I totaled it the other day. ;
If you aren't familiar with the car let me explain... The engine in the
car is a Mazda 1.6L DOHC Turbo, the same engine that is in the Japanese
Mazda 323 turbos. The body style is fashioned after the Miata.
I am toying with the idea of buying a Miata as a replacement. Now I have
several questions here, and I appreciate any help anyone can offer.
A) If I buy the salvage back from the insurance company does anyone know
what Miata the current turbo kit will work with? The whole system was
re-tooled about 10k miles ago and I would hate to see it go to waste. If it
will bolt on to the new Miata that would be ideal, but if not I can easily
find any year Miata through CarMax. I can easily strip ot the computer,
injectors, turbo, and intercooler if I know how to get them to work on a
Miata engine...
B) If it isn't possible to do a swap to a Miata, is anyone out there
interested in the engine. As I said the turbo was just rebuilt, and I know
it is impossible to find a 323 Turbo here in the States.
Any ideas guys????
