Subject:Re: My Car Wax Shootout (NMC)

FWIW, I tried one of the Meguiar's wax's. The shine was great but it
was gone after one washing. Of all the wax I have tried, I have been
most pleased with Rain Dance. It is easy to apply, shines OK and
stays for a long time. It seems like ease of application becomes the
most important feature after I've been at it for 15 or 20 minutes. I
like the Nu Finish too but on my black car, it smears. The smearing
is not noticable on my wife's green car though. Yesterday, I bought a
can of Rain-X wax. Anybody have any opinions on Rain-X wax?
TIA,
Jay

<I'll add a data point (?) to this:

A few months back, I put a coat of the 3M line of car products on
Bluebell
(Imperial glaze, and the wax I can't remember the name of). Then, I
bit
the bullet and didn't wash her until last week. After 3-4 months, she
was
pretty filthy. :)

A few people had told me they didn't think the 3M stuff would last
because
it doesn't contain 'Caranuba' wax. However, I'm pleased to report
that
the 3M stuff has held up great - water beads right off of her, and she
still gets looks (now that she's clean) - same coat of wax.

I have also heard from a few car detailer friends that the Nu Finish
products are excellent and that they prefer them. I'll say this much:
Meguiar's has an excellent marketing department.
