| Subject: | tire pressure and car drift |
| Date: | Wed, 4 Aug 1999 00:03:16 -0400 |
i've been playing around with the inflation pressure on
my tires for a while now after i having problems with
drifting on the highway. i'm not too sure what to think
of this. it seems after about a week and a half or so of
driving, there is a notable offset in the inflation
pressure on different tires. for example, after
correcting the pressure to around 30 psi front and rear
about two weeks ago, i noticed today that the right
front and rear tires were offset by 2 psi with respect
to the other two left tires, somewhere around 28 psi
while the left front and rear were still around 30. Is
there any explanation for this, i.e. driving habits,
alignment, etc. it's geting a little annoying because
the car always seems to drift at highway speed when
there is around a 1 1/2+ psi difference in inflation
pressue at one of the tires. Also, is this normal to
experience drift with a difference of 1 - 1 1/2 psi?? or
am i grabbing here and all of this is in my head. either
way, correcting the pressure always seems to eliminate
drift... so i'm not too sure if this is an alignment
thing or not. Would appreciate any help or suggestions.
