It has been a long time that I changed my timing, but I think I might have
connected the TEN and GND, the Timing Light, and removed the Cooling Fan
Fuse while the car was turned off. I didn't get any sparks.
Most of the minor to major modifications I have made were taught to me by
the "Mazda Miata Performance Handbook" by Norman Garrett III. This a very
well written book and seems to cover all the "pro and con" of all
modifications I was looking into, including the Timing Change. It has also
saved me a ton of money from avoiding certain modifications and upgrades. I
bought it at AMAZON.com for about $18-$20. This is a must have.
Good Luck
