Wow!! We met so many great people. This was our first national Miata
event/non-event. We've got memories to last a lifetime.

- Tried all weekend to figure out how a Computer Engineer could make a
living and move to Deal's Gap.

- Laid in the creek half of Saturday to keep cool and ease the sunburn.
Yes, I was the fool with the towel on my head. Had to drag Chris out of the
pool for a little while to show him that creeks are 10 times more fun than
any pool. Kids these days just don't get Nature.

- Saw dozens of the coolest looking Miatas in the country. I've got so many
ideas now to ponder. Poor "Misty"!

- Took pictures of a wild bear from 10 feet away, and he seemed to enjoy
posing for the camera. Very friendly seeming bear, but I knew to back
quickly away if he became interested in ANYTHING in my direction.

- Added many toys to "Misty". Thanks to the Portas' and Alfonso's and all
the other vendors for taking the trouble to bring all their goodies to the
lodge.

- A BIG thanks to Doc Wynne for letting us tag behind him for many Gap runs
on Sunday. We were able to take the Gap at much higher speeds by tagging
along behind a veteran gapper. There is NO WAY I would have gone that fast
had I been in the lead. I've never pushed my Miata so hard or had more
fun!!

- The bikers at TCOT were the friendliest folks and really enjoyed checking
out our Miatas and hanging out.

- The Blue Boar Inn was about as remote as you can get at The Gap. Their
driveway alone rivaled The Gap in length and twists except it was dirt and
gravel. They were so far out in the country, our GPS unit couldn't see any
satelites from there!! But the rooms, food and people made up for
everything else. What a nice place to stay.

- Washing the car every morning down in Robbinsville after the dirt road
trek to the Blue Boar. The locals at the gas station/car wash must have
thought we were nuts washing our car every day. But they were very friendly
and talked our heads off while we towel dried "Misty".

- Night runs through The Gap and Joyce Killmer Parkway were awesome and very
wild. Thank goodness we had aftermarket headlights.

- Did I mention The Gap. That road is what a Miata is all about and made me
really proud to own mine.

- My son Chris performed his usual talent of charming everyone around him.
He was the 7 year old blond kid with the big smile running around quizzing
everyone on Pokemon and wearing the title of Topoco Lodge Pool Hustler. He
is the friendliest person I know and made the trip very special.

- There are so many other great memories and people we met there, but I do
have to get some things done today so I won't waste any more of your time.
I will be sending my pics to Steve and Linda at http://www.yourmiata.com
They will be putting together an online picture and story gallery of Gap
'99.
