Sounds like you had fun....

Never have I been asked for proof of insurance when crossing the border
to see me dear old Mum in Ontario. I've been lucky I guess or just look
like a responsible adult. (OK, I've been lucky.) (Note to self, check
glove box for insurce card!!)

As for the North Dakota trooper, congrats! I have a friend who's a
trooper in RI and says doesn't have a quota to meet, and doesn't give a
ticket on every stop. Says driver's attitude really makes a difference.
So, just like in every profession, there's good ones and bad ones.
