Debbie,

Glad no one was injured!  It's not clear to me if you smoke or not 
but if not, my suggestion would be to go to the local Mazda dealer 
and purchase the factory cupholder unit that replaces the ashtray. 
Only costs about $15-$20 (depending on any club discounts, etc.). 
Much more functional than an ashtray/explosives holding device.  :-)

Heck... now that I think about it, even if you do smoke, the 
cupholder isn't a bad idea.  Sucking on a Big Gulp has gotta be 
better for ya than those coffin nails.  :-(

Otherwise, you might try Miata.net classifieds, eBay or your local 
junkyard for ashtray replacements.
