Let me toss in my own race seat experiences, further developed last
night...

A few months back I discovered, much to my delight, that I fit in a
Corbeau Forza. Better still, Corbeau said the seat would fit in the
Miata, and they had a bracket for it. Done, I bought it.

Nifty seat, quite upright if you like that sort of thing. Didn't go
back as far as I'd like. Getting into it with the top up is difficult
for me (6'5", 240 lbs-ish) because of the high side bolsters.

But it was sufficiently upright that I was poking up quite a ways above
the roll bar.

Back at the local shop recently, they had a Corbeau Clubman on the
floor. Ooh, thought I, that looks neat. Slightly more reclined, a
little smaller, and much more torso support. So last night I bought it
and put it in the car.

The additional recline is GREAT. I will need to perform some minor
surgery on the seat belt tower to get it back another inch or so. As
it is legroom is compromised somewhat.

Anyway the best part is the seats are quite inexpensive. The Forza is
$220, the Clubman is $212, both MSRP. The bracket was ~$60 I think.
Definitely both worlds better than the stock seat.

This one, with its even more aggressive side bolsters, will no doubt be
harder to get into with the top up. I haven't tried yet.

I'll post further thoughts once I've lived with the clubman for a
little while.
