Ha! A friend's father had an old Chevy pickup that we were moving in the
driveway as a practical joke one night. Two guys were pushing and I was
steering. It was kind of hard to move but we were doing it. They asked if
it was in gear or not to which I replied, "What are you kidding? We're
pushing it backwards, if it was in gear we'd never be able to push it!". It
was making kind of a sighing noise while we were pushing it. Turns out the
compression was practically non-existant as the truck was in first gear the
whole time we were pushing it backwards! So long answer to your
question...yes, under the right circumstances 8-)
