I don't know if I qualify as a beer geek. I'm a homebrewer and brew
about 50 gallons or so each year. Peter, maybe you should consider
brewing your own beer, it's not that difficult. I have a recipe for
Ruddles County Bitter from Dave Line's book "Brewing Beers Like Those
You Buy". He describes it as "A robust bitter packed with the flavour
of malt and hops". While the recipe is for an all grain (meaning that
you start with crushed malt) it can easily be converted to an extract
(you buy the malt syrup in a can) which makes it much easier for a
beginning brewer. If you get interested in brewing, check out
www.hbd.org. This is an execellent forum for beginners and experts with
very knowledgeable people (just like the Miata digest) offering
generally excellent advice. Should you decide to brew your own, get in
touch and I'll e-mail you the recipe. By the way, there would be an
enormous dollar saving if you go the homebrew route.
By the way thanks to all who responded to my portable CD request.
