I know your '99 is going to be a little different, but I hooked mine up to
the parking lights as you describe - I have a rough electical diagram on
my web site below on the mods page... FWIW.

::Me again,

::
::this one is for those who are more familiar than I with electrical stuff...
::
::Here are the instructions as they appear on the box (slightly shortened
::'cause I'm lazy)
::
::1. Disconnect negative battery
::2. Install lights
::3. Attach Relay to inside engine compartment
::4. Connect wiring harness to relay
::5. Attach black wires to frame, sheet metal, or other negative source
::6. Connect the end of white wire to white wire on the lights
::7. Same for black wire
::8. A two foot power lead is provided for second light
::9. mount switch inside cabin
::10. Run White switch lead from relay to cabin mounted switch
::11. Connect switch wire plug tot he switch
::12. Connect the red wire into the lead light power wire using the quick
::connector provided (from the picture it seems that they mean to the power
::wire, either the high or low beam on the headlights)
::13. Connect the white wire with the inline fuse from the wiring harness
::assembly to the positive side of the battery terminal
::14. Reconnect the main ground wire to the battery terminal
::15. Lights should now operate properly.
::
::Now here are my questions:
::
::A) I'm no electric wiz or anything but from those instructions I gather
::that the lights would be ON if and only if: The Switch is in the on
::position AND the low beams are on (if step 12 connected to low beam) OR the
::high beams are on (if step 12 connected to the high beam)
::
::is that correct?
::
::B) I would like to be able to have the lights come on whenever the parking
::lights are on... I assume that would simply involve connecting step 12 to
::the parking light lead, correct?
::
::C) How much more complicated would it get if I wanted the driving lights to
::go off when I'm FLASHING the high beams ... note FLASHING, not when they're
::set to high ... (I think it's a law in FLA... but I could have been
::misinformed)?
::
::D) Is there an alternative to step 13? We all know the manufacturer assumed
::the battery is in the engine compartment... then again maybe the best thing
::to do would be to connect a nice thick wire to the positive on the battery,
::route it through the car to the engine compartment and use it for this
::purpose and also to put a power outlet (the blue connector in the M1s... I
::assume I can get one of these at NAPA or Discount Auto Parts hopefully) so
::that if anyone ever needs to hook up a timing light they don't have to go
::crazy. If I go this route, my assumption is that all I need is a RED wire,
::a rubber protector (to run it through under the carpet) and once it reaches
::the engine compartment I would probably want to have an inline fuse (what
::AMP rating?) and then the split connector one for the power outlet, one for
::these lights. Is this correct?
::
::Thanks in advance for any and all help!
