Sweetpea, the Gap is a US Highway. It does not close down for the winter.
LOL However some of the lodgings in the area close after leaf season. You
are probably still within that timeframe and if not surely the hotels in
Robbinsville stay open all year round. No worries of snow yet. Come on
down! Check out this URL for local area attractions and lodging
possibilities:

Give 'em a call and see if the lodge is still open.

Ummm, its getting a little chilly in the south at night. Bring a sweatshirt
and/or jacket. Contrary to popular belief we do have more than one season in
the south...we have four...fall, spring, summer, and summer. :o) Might want
to give the snake a try too. 3 - 3 1/2 hours from the Gap. Also Ceasar's
Head, the Blue Ridge Parkway, 28 to Bridal Veil Falls, etc. All easy day
trips from the Gap as home base. :o)

Have fun! The south has some great Miata roads!!!!
