What a disappointing end to the New Year Celebrations, I had a house full of
visitors from the UK and Scotland and watched the CNN coverage of the
celebrations. All went well until after London when each  city in turn as
the clock struck midnight, sang Auld Lang Syne and completely screwed up the
words. The song is virtually sacred to the Scots, having been written by the
immortal Rab Burns, my friends were literally in tears and I had to turn the
TV off. They could not believe that such desecration could occur in a major
world television event.
