Wow, you must be too young. In spite of what the late Ms Sonja proclaimed,
the car WAS known in the United States as an XKE. When I walked into a
Jaguar dealership in 1963 to look at them they were calling it an XKE. As
far as I can surmise it was only called the "E-Type" in Europe and by a few
elitist bastards in the US.

(E-Type for you elitest bastards! I LIKE that!). Yours must have been the
3.8? As with the other English sports cars I've had, I had trouble keeping
it running after I put 30k (,000 not kilolmetres!) My Miata has about 800
miles on it, and I am fervently hoping that the Japanese have figured out how
to more than keep the top from leaking.
