Did you have a lot of snow, and ice, build up on your windshield and
pack into that tray under the windshield? The place you describe with
the icicle is where the tray drains. If the icicle is clear or a light
brown you should not have any problem.

It's damned cold here (-20C), and has been for the last three days. The
Rollerskate refused to start after I'd taken 4 days to recover from the
flu,
so we now have a battery warming pad keeping 60W of heat around the
battery,
and Miata-sized booser cables JIC.

However, the car heater works just fine. BTW, what puts out water just
behind the front wheel well? We developed an icicle and a frozen puddle
in
that location when parked for about 1/2 hour.

I have found hockey tape to be the most long-lasting latch-thickener
around...  from many years with my beloved (until stolen...sniff) CRX Si
that without hockey tape on the rear latch sounded like i had a trunk full
of caged chickens on crystal meth...  electrical tape gets all gummy and
yucky.
