Before too many more people start trying to follow recent examples, here's
a short guide on how to unsubscribe successfully.
Send the following message to listserv@list.miata.net :
unsubscribe miata
Some tips:
-the listserv is automated, so adding editorial comments or using alternate
syntax ("Get me off this *@#% list", for example) will not help and may
result in your request getting discarded
-the request needs to be sent from the same address that is getting the mail
-the listserv does not understand styled or MIME text at all. It will be
ignored.
-if you don't hear back from the listserv within a few minutes, something
didn't work.
If this fails or you have a more complicated request, please contact the
list administrator at list_admin@miata.net . Don't send anything to the
list itself, as you'll still only have to wait until the list admin sees it.
Some tips:
-the list admin is a real person, so adding abuse will not necessarily lead
to greater motivation.
-if you don't hear from the list admin within a few minutes, it could very
well be because the real person also has a real job. You should receive a
response within 12 hours. The response may simply be an unsubscribe
confirmation from the listserv, depending on how busy the admin is.
-if you have multiple email addresses, a list of them would be appreciated
in case you're subscribed under a different one than you think you are.
This is not unusual.
-spamming the list admin and causing their email account to crash will only
extend the amount of time it takes to unsubscribe you
-threatening legal action will not give you any extra sympathy
