As far as the advantages of hardtops, there are some aerodynamic issues that can be addressed. So let us run with or without. Why should it be top only mandate?

Michael, I think you're right on the mark here. Anyone interested should
check out the discussion about this same topic at drivenperformance.com. It
ended a little ugly -- I got offended at what I thought was a crappy response
from one of the SpecMiata founders -- that's another story. Although I would
much rather run topless, there are some advantages to running w/ the top, too.
If it matters, the group I race with is called Midwestern Council (MI, WI, IL
areas mostly). We allow Miatas (and all convertibles) in IT classes to run
topless so long as the roll over protection criteria is met. I'd gladly
voice my opinion, but I'm not an SCCA member. Any other thoughts?
