I was in a Checker this week on Monday getting some oil (never mind what
kind, I don't want to be involved in that thread).  I'm standing at the
counter and a customer sticks his head in the door and says the battery he
bought the day before is defective.  The counter guy shouts back, can you
bring it in here?  The customer disappears and comes through the door about
3 minutes later.  He is CARRYING what looks like a black basketball with
Champion written on one side and two posts on the equator.  It is FOAMING
and DRIPPING on the floor.  He sets it on the counter and it rocks back and
forth on its now round bottom.

Seemed to be the only person who cared.  Moved down two registers and made
the counter guy ring me up from 20 feet away.  Another clerk shows up and is
squinting closely at the warranty label.  Not a face shield, apron or any
personal protective equipment in sight.

I said, some guys might wear safety glasses to look at that battery.
Whatever.  I got out of there fast.  I must be getting sissified in my old
age.
