OK, duh, good point.  In that case I'd worry that there would be some sort
of State or Federal law about having amber running lights facing aft
(confusing drivers as to your direction of travel).

I'm familiar with the concept, and your concerns about being seen from
behind in the fog and bright, low sun are really good ones.  Times when you
/need/ lights on.  We debated ways to convert the (otherwise useless) CHMSL
into a fog light awhile ago.  Nobody really solved the bulb/temperature
concern, but something like a halogen or otherwise bright bulb in there,
separately switched, could work either as a CHMSL or as a fog light.  I
thought it would be a nifty solution on those foggy days.
