Yeah, Great America Parkway is notorious for that. You were driving
right past Great America, right? Motorcycle cop sitting on the
sidewalk where the busses pull out?

Detectors are legal in California, but don't expect to talk your way
out of a ticket if you've got one sitting on the windshield.

As for detectors, don't buy anything buy a Valentine One. It's twice
as expensive as the others, but easily more than twice as good. You
should be able to traffic school for the first ticket, but another one
will easily cost you more than $400 in ticket and extra insurance.

See their web site at http://www.valentineone.com/. I've got one if
you want to see it in action sometime.
