They can do a search with probable cause.  Loud intake noise (louder
than a stock car) could be construed as giving probable cause to open
the hood and look for an aftermarket intake.

I disagree.  I used to have a cheap radar detector, replaced it with a
Valentine.  It's been worth every penny.
